National Institute of Women

The National Institute for Women was created in 2005 within the framework of the Ministry for Social Development. It is the leading entity in gender policies and is responsible for the promotion, design, coordination, articulation and implementation of public policies from the perspective of gender, as well as their monitoring and evaluation. It is constituted in order to guarantee the Human Rights of women, and to promote equality in access to public services and resources to contribute to eradicate poverty and exclusion of women. Likewise, it aims at guaranteeing access and full participation of women in power structures and in decision-making.
